I am researching my Flood and Lang ancestors, and I wondered if you could help.
My grandfather's name was John Flood, he was born on December 2, 1873, at 19 Senior Street, Preston.
He had brothers and sisters named William born 1865, George 1868, Jane 1871, and John who was the youngest.
Their parents were George Flood born 1842, married Mary Parkinson married in 1861 on the 16/3/1861 in Preston. Both George and Mary were also in Preston.
Margaret (my grandfather wrote that her name was Margereth) married a James Lang, also from Preston. They were married on October 18 1884, at Altham Parish Church, he was 20, she was 19.
He was a spinner, she was a weaver, their residence at the time of the marriage was Clayton. (May be Clayton Le Moors?) James' father was Thomas Lang, and was a spinner, Margaret's dad George was a slater. The witnesses were Richard Thornton and Margeret Kerridge.
Do you know any of the names, or are you a Flood or a Lang? If so I would like to hear from you.
My grandfather John was in the Loyal North Lancs Regiment in WW1. He married Lily Wright ,born 1898 in Sheffield, they married in Sheffield at Owlerton Parish Church on 26/3/1921. He died of a heart attack on the 17/1/1930. My grandmother Lily carried on alone with five children and died still a widow on the 15/1/1987.
They lived in Sheffield all their lives.
If anyone has any information on any member of their family I would love to know.
