Members of a Rotherham based charity left for Pakistan after collecting over £85,000.
The World Aid Foundation (WAF) left Manchester Airport on 27th October, having accumulated a huge cargo to assist the victims of the disaster..
The team have in the past responded to various major disasters including the Iran earthquake and the Asian tsunami. Run
entirely by volunteers, it is an organisation that believes 100% of the funds raised should be spent on the cause
WAF appealed to the generous British public in Rotherham and Sheffield, to come forward to donate money and goods.
The first snows have been reported in some areas in the disaster zone and the full force of winter is just weeks away. This will aggravate the already vulnerable conditions of the quake survivors.
WAF volunteers in the U.K. are accepting donations for a long-term re-construction project expected to begin within the next 6 months. This could include a re-building of a school, hospital, the provision of homes orsimilar dwellings or the setting up of a health centre.
