Amir Khan was mobbed as he lended his support to local appeals in the North West.
He took time out from his training to visit Sharples Science College in Hillcot Road, Bolton, to thank pupils for their fundraising efforts towards the Asian earthquake disaster appeal.
The school raised £1,000 for the Pakistan Earthquake Appeal by holding a non-uniform day.
Deputy headteacher Mukesh Singadia said: "We were only given 24 hours notice of Amir's visit so we thought a non-uniform day would be the quickest way of raising some money for the appeal."
Meanwhile in Bolton over £150,000 has been raised.
More than £80,000 alone came from the members of the Makka Mosque in Grecian Crescent, Great Lever.
Two delegations of representatives from the Makka Mosque and Zakaria Mosque on Derby Street visited Pakistan to assess where best to spend the money.
Elders from the mosques were delighted with the efforts .

The Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) a Bolton based charity allocated and initial £200,000 towards helping the victims of the EarthQuake. Members of the charity are already in the disaster zone helping distribute aid.

The Mayor of Boltons Asian Earthquake Appeal raised over £3,000 within a week of the disaster.
Monies continue to come in from local schools, colleagues and members of the public.
