A WOMAN who attacked a paramedic who was called to her house to help an "unconscious female" was warned she may face prison.

Anne Marie Chambers lunged at the female ambulance crew member as she left the house after deciding nobody needed or wanted treatment, Blackburn magistrates were told.

And Chambers later told police she got "angry in vodka."

Chambers, 21, of Joseph Street, Darwen, admitted assault and was bailed to December 12 pending a pre-sentence report.

Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said paramedics came to the house in response to a report of a woman unconscious. Instead they found two women clearly drunk.

Chambers, who was sitting on the stairs, was unco-operative and began banging her head against the wall.

"The paramedics made the decision to leave the house because the defendant clearly wasn't unconscious," said Miss Fanning.

"She was extremely drunk and refusing treatment. As the paramedic went down the stairs Chambers followed and lunged at her, grabbing her shoulder and causing her to bank her leg."

Michael Blacklidge, defending, said Chambers accepted she had consumed a great deal of alcohol on what she described as "giro pay day."
