A BEVY of beauties arrived in Rossendale to help boost the profile of a community football squad.

And the glamourous models have promised to pose with the lads from Rawtenstall-based Madison Park FC for a money-spinning calendar next year.

Ben Miles, 24, who set up the team last year, organised a community fun day at Haslingden Sports centre on Sunday with help from his model friend Katie Walsh, of Helmshore.

The manager of the Burnley and District Sunday League third division club said: "It went really well, especially as it was on a cold winter Sunday.

"Katie is in a forum with other glamour models from all over the country so she got on to them to help out and they came to Rossendale from London, Nottingham, Sheffield and Wales.

"It did the job we intended it to do - to raise the profile of the club in the community.

"Even though we are based at the pub, we are not a 'pub team'. It's a community team with players coming from all over Rossendale."

He added: "We've organised for a 2007 calendar to be made, for which some of the pictures are being taken now and some in summer with a view to it being ready in September."

Ben, who lives in Rawtenstall and works for Nelson-based call centre Touch PLC selling internet space, had also appealed for sponsors.

He said: "The models are going to appear in the calendar each month alongside the players but we need local businesses to sponsor each page - £100 a month to help pay for the printing costs.

"We are also going to have a page of advertising for companies that can't afford to pay £100 and we will just ask for a contribution of whatever they can afford."
