A 33-year-old man who struggled violently while being arrested later bit a sergeant dealing with him at the police station, a court was told.
Blackburn magistrates heard Robert Alan Eaves made a gnashing noise and bared his teeth at one officer while he was being arrested before sinking his teeth into the hand of the custody sergeant.
Eaves, 33, of Wood Street, Blackburn, admitted assaulting Sergeant Johnson causing actual bodily harm, resisting a police officer, assaulting an officer in the course of his duty and damaging a door belonging to Lynne Caddens.
He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court for sentence after the bench ruled their powers were insufficient.
Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said police became involved in an incident involving Eaves and Mrs Caddens, the mother of his girlfriend.
"When police arrived at her house, where Eaves and his girlfriend were also living, they found a substantial damage," said Miss Fanning.
