MIDFIELD talisman Morten Gamst Pedersen is aiming to banish his World Cup blues by inspiring Blackburn Rovers to a famous victory at Arsenal on Saturday.
Pedersen is still licking his wounds after his World Cup dream was ended in heartbreaking fashion by the Czech Republic last week.
But the 24-year-old wideman, who has been one of Rovers' leading lights this season, is hoping for a quick pick-me-up by gunning down the Gunners on what could turn out to be Rovers' last ever visit to Highbury.
"We were gutted to get knocked out of the World Cup," said Pedersen, reflecting on Norway's 2-0 aggregate defeat.
"To play at a World Cup finals is every player's dream, but I'm still young and hopefully there will be many more chances for me in the future.
"I've got to try and put that to the back of my mind, though, now because we've got an important game against Arsenal at the weekend and I need to focus on that.
"We know it's going to be tough because Arsenal had a good win against Wigan on Saturday, but nothing is impossible in football and we can't just go there thinking we are going to lose.
"If we go with that attitude then we might as well not bother travelling at all and save the money it would cost to get down there."
Rovers have enjoyed some famous victories at Highbury before now, most notably in 2002 when Brad Friedel kept Thierry Henry and Co at bay virtually single-handed.
Last season, however, the Gunners inflicted serious pain on Rovers, not only beating them twice in the league but also knocking them out of the FA Cup in a bruising semi-final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
"We don't think so much about that," said Pedersen.
"As far as we are concerned, that's history now. The cup is the cup and you win or lose on the day.
"But this is a new season now, we've got some new people at the club and we want to give them a good game.
"Arsenal have got some great players and everyone knows about the danger Thierry Henry will pose us.
"But, like I've said, nothing is impossible in football and if we have the right attitude then we can go there and win."
