Clarets boss Steve Cotterill cannot believe Burnley are set to face Leeds again just a month since United came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win at Turf Moor.
Burnley's short hop over the Pennines is in stark contrast to the horrendous festive schedule in little more than a month, which takes the Clarets to Norwich for an evening kick off on December 28, then the trek to London to face QPR on January 2.
And the Clarets chief cannot see why such anomalies are not taken into consideration when the fixture list is drawn up.
"I think you just get on with playing teams so soon after, but I don't quite understand how or why it's happened," said Cotterill.
"We go to Norwich on December 28 and we play Crewe again on Saturday. I just can't understand that with the Christmas games coming up, and with supporters having to travel so far.
"Why do we have to do that amount of travelling at that time of year?"
