LEE Grant is still determined to use his month at Burnley to prove he has a future at Derby County.

Grant, no stranger to competition, faces the prospect of Brian Jensen returning from suspension tonight to pip him to the goalkeeping gloves for the Roses clash at Elland Road.

But County's third choice stopper, 22, insists he will have no hesitation at leaving Pride Park if his Turf Moor spell fails to kick start his County career.

"My main focus is concentrating on being Derby's number one goalkeeper," said Grant, who kept a clean sheet on his debut against Leicester at the weekend.

"It's worked out that I am third choice there. When Lee Camp was dropped I was unfortunate enough to be injured at the time. The goalkeeping coach, Kevin Poole, stepped in and to be fair he did really well and kept his place.

"That knocked me further down the order so it's tough now, but I have been at Derby since I was 16 and I've always enjoyed my time there.

"Everyone has been great and I am settled in Derby, so it would be a wrench to leave.

"Also, I still have a year on my contract so hopefully I can show the manager that I am good enough to play for Derby County.

"If that's not the case - and it's been looking pretty bleak for me of late - then I'll have to move on to pastures new."

However Grant relishes the challenge set at Burnley, where Jensen is back breathing down his new rival's neck after serving a one-match ban for his red card at Luton.

"Brian has been magnificent," he added. "I have a lot of respect for him and I've enjoyed working with him since I've been here.

"I've met him a few times on goalkeeping courses and both he and Danny Coyne have been very welcoming. It's been nice to have their support and it takes the pressure off me a little bit."
