Burnley boss Steve Cotterill feels his side are finally getting their rewards after a stunning run of seven wins in nine games catapulted them into the play off places.

The Clarets travel to fourth placed Leeds tonight buoyed by a fourth successive Championship victory over Leicester at the weekend.

"If you pick up seven wins out of nine, that's a phenomenal turnaround, but the lads have deserved it," insisted the Burnley manager.

"It's only when you get the breaks that you realise where you are and we were a point or two up on last season at the last break.

"But the thing is we had such an awkward start in regards to gathering points. It wasn't that we weren't in games, but if we could have turned a couple of those draws into wins, or defeats into draws, we would have been higher than we are, so I think we're getting our rewards at the moment."

Such runs are no rarity for Cotterill, who enjoyed unparalleled success earlier in his managerial career at Cheltenham.

But he is refusing to get swept away at the prospect of a fifth straight victory firmly embedding the Clarets in the top six.

"I was unbeaten in 25 games with Cheltenham and 18 the following season. I think we had five straight wins and five defeats as well, but the wins we've just had at Burnley are history now," he insisted.

"They are not going to count for anything at Leeds because we've got our feet on the floor at this club.

"Being in the top six is a big achievement for us and it's a credit to all the players and the supporters for following us around the country.

"It's good to be there, but you don't get anything for that at this time of year so we won't take too much notice of that - just as we didn't when we were bottom of the league a few weeks ago."

Cotterill has skipper Frank Sinclair and goalkeeper Brian Jensen both back from suspension for tonight's Elland Road test.
