CHORLEY boss Shaun Teale has taken a swipe at Bacup Borough's strong-arm tactics after the two clubs were involved in a bruising Lancashire Challenge Trophy clash at Victory Park on Tuesday night.

Borough had two players sent off and five others were booked in what was an often tempestuous cup tie, and Teale was particularly incensed by a late challenge from Ben Thornley on Andy Olsen, which resulted in the young reserve team striker limping off with an injury.

"Some of their challenges were a disgrace, particularly the one on Andy Olsen," blasted Teale.

"That, for me, was a stamping offence but unfortunately the referee and his assistant both missed it because they were following the ball.

"Maybe if the referee had shown a red card then it might have calmed things down, but I was pleased with the general way my players coped with the situation."

Chorley ran out 5-1 winners on the night to chalk up a second successive home victory.

Now Teale wants his players to take that form into tomorrow's game at Belper, where the Magpies will look to record a quick-fire double following a 1-0 home win over the same opposition last Saturday.

Peter Wright is a doubt with a neck injury, but Teale should return after recovering from a similar problem.

But Bacup boss Brent Peters said: "To be honest, I didn't see the incident because I was in a heated debate with my assistant after their first goal but there's no way Ben (Thornley) would do anything like that because he's not that kind of player.

"I think Shaun Teale should try and get his own house in order and not go bleating about Bacup."
