GREAT Britain captain Jamie Peacock admits he is "fed up to the back teeth" of losing to Australia.

It was a familiar tale as the Lions, after promising so much, once more fell flat on their faces on Saturday when given the chance to end the Kangaroos' world supremacy.

Instead of the anticipated tense, drama-filled finale, a capacity crowd of 25,150 at Hull's KC Stadium witnessed another anti-climax as Britain flopped on the big occasion.

It was not as embarrassing as last year's 44-4 final defeat, but the Lions, who went into the game needing a three-point victory to reach the final, were given another harsh lesson in the basic rugby skills by the masters of the art.

"I'm fed up to the back teeth of losing to them," said Peacock. "Hopefully it will change one day but we need to be better than that.

"It wasn't the greatest performance from us. Australia deserved to win. We came up with quite a few errors, maybe we didn't focus too well. We needed to get out of our own half and we didn't do that well enough. That's why we lost.

"It's very disappointing. If we had played to our potential, we would have given ourselves a shot so it's frustrating that we've not done that. We came up with too much lost ball.

"I don't know what to put it down to - a lack of concentration perhaps. They defended well and forced some errors and we over-played at times as well, which is not good enough."
