LEE Grant is hoping that a clean sheet on his Burnley debut will earn him the nod over Brian Jensen at Leeds tomorrow night.
But the on-loan Derby County stopper will not complain if he steps aside as he is happy just to be playing football again.
Grant, 22, made a winning start as the Clarets jumped into sixth place in the Championship with a fourth straight league win over Leicester City at Turf Moor.
"It was enjoyable playing and because it's been so long I was hoping the game wouldn't finish," said Grant, who is currently third-choice at Pride Park.
"It's nice to be back in the thick of things and make a couple of saves, so I was pleased with my contribution.
"I've only played three games in two years and it has been frustrating, so when the opportunity came to join Burnley on loan I grabbed it with both hands.
"It was nice to have this chance and if the manager here had said it was just for one game I would still have come.
"Hopefully now, things will carry on as they have been and I'll be hoping to get the nod tomorrow, but that's not my decision."
Grant gave boss Steve Cotterill a goalkeeping headache by keeping City at bay as they pressed for an equaliser after John Spicer's second goal for the club put the Clarets ahead six minutes before the break.
But Cotterill felt his side eventually ran out worthy winners to register a seventh win in nine Championship games and jump to their highest league position of the season.
"I always thought it was going to be a hard fought win and that's what it was," he said. "Leicester probably had more possession in the second half, but we had the better chances and could have wrapped the game up a lot earlier instead of it being a nervy last 10 minutes
"In the end Lee made a few saves and I think they will be the type he would be disappointed if he didn't make. But it was nice for him to play and keep a clean sheet."
