Injury-hit Preston keeper Andrew Lonergan is set to undergo knee surgery on Wednesday after his 'one in a million chance' setback.
Lonergan suffered a repeat of the cruciate knee injury which he was only just recovering from last month.
It means he is out of action for the rest of the season - and surgery next week will be the start of an incredibly long, hard road back to action.
Boss Billy Davies said: "It was a one in a million freak accident and it is a long road back for him.
"We hope to have in a condition to be playing by July."
