HUNDREDS of ex servicepeople in East Lancs, and across the UK, who had their hearing damaged, are not receiving any compensation.
Appallingly, 90 per cent of veterans who applied for compensation for deafness in the last five years have been refused due to unfair assessment.
RNID, the charity for deaf and hard of hearing people, is calling on the government to lower the level of hearing loss needed to qualify for compensation.
We ask readers to help bring about this change by signing RNID's petition. You do not have to be a veteran to 'sign up for justice.' With your support we will endeavour to ensure the sacrifices of deafened veterans are recognised and fairly compensated.
To sign or obtain a copy of the petition, please contact RNID's information line on 0808 808 0123 or text 0808 808 9000 or visit www.rnid.org.uk
