A MAN tempted by the offer of easy money went looking for a TV which had been stolen from a shop earlier in the night, a court was told.
But magistrates heard Tony Savioni was on a mission impossible because the television had already been recovered by police.
Savioni, 24, of Princess Street, Accrington admitting attempting to dishonestly handle stolen property. He was fined £50 with £30 costs.
Judith Balderstone, prosecuting, said early on Monday, town centre cameras had picked up two men stealing a 32-inch TV from Kwik Save worth £490.
Police arrested one and the other escaped.
When he was interviewed, Savioni said he had gone to bed early but was woken up by another man who told him a mutual acquaintance had been arrested while stealing the TV. He was offered £150 if he went to recover the TV from where it was hidden.
