THANK you for the article (LET, November 4) about disabled access in Darwen town centre.
I was not satisfied with the comments from Councillor Kay about the traffic study for Darwen town centre taking place in January.
The issue of a safe access route to and from the Darwen Health Centre needs to be resolved as soon as possible.
I reported the lack of safety to the highways department in June when I visited an open day.
The result was the new crossing opposite the leisure centre but no dropped pavements on the way to the town centre.
The free bus service provided every half hour is not available for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
Since the new health centre is now up and running, despite many objections to the siting, surely a safe approach should be made to and from the town centre without having to negotiate parked cars and oncoming traffic.
A new crossing at the bottom of Borough Road to the Post Office would be helpful.
