GOLF equipment worth £100,000 has been stolen from a business in Nelson.

Today staff at Golf International, Kenyon Road, Lomeshaye Industrial Estate, were picking up the pieces after raiders stole expensive equipment, including unique products collected by owner David Scott-Miller over the past 20 years.

They include a set of limited edition McGregor irons and woods; two 6ft display sized golf clubs named after Callaway which are one of only two sets in the country; a Ben Hogan print and an original Walt Disney print of Mickey Mouse playing golf.

Mr Scott-Miller said: "We've got nothing to sell here.

"Everything that was ready to sell for Christmas and winter has all gone.

"However we will remain open.

"We've got a business to run, staff to pay, rents to pay and this is a massive selling period for us. Every wife and girlfriend comes to buy something for their husband or boyfriend who's a golfer.

"If anyone sees any of these things, anybody who's been in the shop will have seen them, please let the police know."

Police believe thieves broke through shutters at Golf International on Sunday between 7.49pm and 11pm.

PC Tom Edmondson said: "We are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and contact the police.

"That includes anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity around the premises or anyone who has perhaps been offered golfing equipment or who recognises any of the more unusual items stolen.

"If you have any information which you think may assist officers, then please call Nelson Police Station on 01282 472622 or if you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
