A TEENAGER who chipped in with friends to buy drugs was left to carry the can when he was found with a stash of cannabis resin.

A court heard how more than two kilos of the drug were discovered when police searched Christopher Hodgson's bedroom in Greenside Avenue, Blackburn.

The haul had been intended for use by him and his friends, Preston Crown Court was told.

Hodgson, 19, had pleaded guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Miss Judith McCullough, prosecuting, said police visited the defendant's home in February this year.

A toilet bag containing eight nine-ounce bars of cannabis resin was found under Hodgson's bed.

He later told police in a statement that the drugs -- weighing just over two kilos -- were intended for use by him and friends. He had himself contributed £250 to the cannabis which had been bought two weeks earlier.

Judge Stuart Baker placed the teenager on two years community rehabilitation, ordered that he carry out 100 hours community punishment and pay £200 prosecution costs.
