Blackburn Rovers fanatic Gordon Ormerod is hoping to compile the most comprehensive history ever written about the club as a lasting legacy for future generations of like-minded football devotees.
The 58-year-old, who hails from Wigan, has been hooked on Rovers since he saw his first game at Ewood Park in August 1958.
And now he's spending most of his spare time trawling through old cuttings in his quest to put together the most detailed record ever of his favourite football club.
"I've always been interested in the statisitical side of the game from the days when I started making scrapbooks on Rovers at the beginning of the 1960s," said Gordon.
"Now I want to assemble the most comprehensive history ever written about the club as a legacy I can leave behind.
"People have written books on the history of Blackburn Rovers before, but they've never gone into the same level of detail that I'm going into.
"I've got stuff dating back to 1875, when the club was first formed, and it's not just information on the first team, it's information about the reserves and the youth team as well."
Gordon has already produced three books; one covering the 1960/61 season, another on the 1961/62 season, and a third on the 1962/63.
But his ultimate goal is to produce a detailed account of every single season in the club's history, with details on every single match ever played at first, reserve and youth team levels.
"I've gone through copies of old papers from the past and it's amazing how much information I've managed to gather together," said Gordon, whose other claim to fame is he became the first ever fourth official at Ewood in August 1983.
"But I'm trying not to produce just statistical information. I write a little precis on every game, giving a description of the goal and anything else that might have happened of interest in the game."
If you have any information regarding Rovers (particularly from the pre-Second World War era) that could help Gordon then please call him on 01942 257801.
Also, if you want a copy of any of his first three books then call the same number.
They are priced at £5 each.
