League Challenge Cup Round Two: A professional performance saw the Rams through to the next round of the North West Counties League Challenge Cup.
The scoreline could have been greater had it not been for a fine goalkeeping display from Mechanics keeper David Stevenson and some woeful finishing from the Rams.
A first half display that saw the Riverside outfit cut through the Mechanics defence at will was matched with a less than impressive second half that nearly cost them dearly for their poor finishing in front of goal. But with a host of the league's leading teams falling at the first hurdle, the Rams will fancy their chances of having a productive run in a competition that saw them reach the semi-finals two years ago.
The goal came on 11 minutes when Grhaam Price capped an excellent Ramsbottom move involving Chris Steele and Steve Macdonald with an exquisite finish into the top left corner.
