POLICE are still trying to piece together the final hours of a man who died after being found collapsed over a wall.
Police today revealed that the man, who died on Tuesday night, was 57-year-old Thomas Goodson, who lived alone in Joseph Street, Darwen.
A post mortem examination failed to ascertain the cause of death and further tests are being carried out.
Mr Goodson, whose family did not want to be identified, had been walking along Bank Street, Darwen, around 11.30pm when he collapsed.
Despite paramedics battling to save him he was dead on arrival at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Det Sgt Mark Rothwell, of Darwen CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who knows of Mr Goodson's movements on the night he died.
"We know he was in Sainsbury's around 6pm and we believe he was in a pub, possibly in the town centre, at some point in the evening.
"We haven't yet determined where he was in between leaving Sainsbury's and being found collapsed in Bank Street. If anyone can assist us with his whereabouts it will help us to piece together his movements.
"Post mortem examination was inconclusive. However at this stage we are not treating the incident as suspicious."
Mr Goodson was as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of heavy build, with greying and receding hair and a close beard.
Anyone who saw him on Tuesday night or knows where he went should call Darwen CID on 01254 353841.
