Blackburn Rovers have not made an offer for Celtic's Stilian Petrov, according to Gordon Strachan.
Reports in Scotland suggested Mark Hughes had made the Bulgarian his number one transfer target for the New Year, and was weighing up a move to bring the player to Ewood Park.
However, Hoops manager Strachan denied he has received any contact from his former Manchester United team-mate, and insists Petrov wants to stay at Parkhead.
"There has not been an offer from Blackburn for Stilian," said Strachan. "He has sat down regularly for the last month for talks about a new contract.
"Stilian really wants to stay here and that is good. We really want him to stay."
Hughes recently went to watch Petrov in action for Celtic against Motherwell but if he does make a move it's likely to be at the end of the season.
