POLICE accident investigators have issued a fresh witness appeal after a man was killed when he was hit by a car.
Tom Bury, 62, of Council Terrace, Darwen, was hit in Redearth Road last Friday at about 7pm, suffering multiple injuries.
He died at the scene, just yards from the Black Horse pub, where he had been drinking earlier in the evening.
Two men aged 18 and 20 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw a black Vauxhall Corsa, registration PF05 OJR or a burgundy Citroen Saxo, registration W811 GKU, in the Darwen area before or immediately after the incident.
The cars were seen in Bridge Street then Redearth Road.
Both stopped briefly then were driven away. Police said the Corsa then returned to the scene.
Sgt Keith Jackson said: "We need more people to come forward. There were lots of cars around and we need to hear from them."
Police can be contacted 01254 51212.
