A DAREDEVIL carer is taking a 12,000ft plunge to raise vital funds for a children's special needs centre.
Mohammed Lorgat, 31, from Blackburn, said that he will not be deterred from jumping from an aeroplane in aid of the Blue Tin Roof project this Saturday.
Mo said: "I really don't know what I have agreed to do.
"I keep running through it, imagining what it will be like in my mind but stories about people crash landing and breaking every bone in their body are not helpful."
The full-time carer's free-falling opportunity at the North West Parachute Centre, Grange-over- Sands, only came about by accident.
He said his sister had paid for the jump as a surprise for her husband. But he refused to do it and so she offered it to her brother instead.
Mo added: "When I said I would do it I thought that I might as well try and make some money for charity at the same time.
"After all it isn't everyday that you throw yourself out of a light aeroplane attached to a stranger.
"I used to work in Bacup with Andrea Brighouse, who runs the centre, and as they are completely self-funded know that they are always struggling for money.
"When you see some of the children at the centre you do just want to do what you can to help and I will keep thinking about them when I am about to jump." The Blue Tin Roof, Charnley Street, Blackburn, helps families with children that have profound learning difficulties, such as autism.
Andrea said it was a constant battle to stay open and said people like Mo were a fantastic help.
She said: "We have to beg, steal and borrow to stay open but we must stay open as there are so many families who need our support.
"I have known Mo for a while now and he is just a very kind man -- and a bit of a daredevil!
"He knows how hard it is for us and we are so grateful that he has offered to help fundraise."
So far Mo has raised £600 in sponsorship and has asked the 182 football teams that play at the JJB Soccer Dome to donate a £10 per team to the cause.
