THE family of a woman who plunged 25ft to her death after falling from an upstairs window have paid tribute to a "happy young mother".
Today police named the dead woman as Amanda Alexander, 26, of Waterfoot, who suffered severe head injuries after the fall happened in the early hours of Sunday.
She fell from the bathroom window on the second floor of a three-storey property in Burnley Road East.
Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken to Burnley General Hospital and later transferred to Blackburn Royal Infirmary. She died on Monday night as a result of her head injuries.
Her devastated family have asked to grieve in peace while they come to terms with the tragic death.
Police today released a short statement from Amanda's family which said: "Amanda was a happy young mother of two who lived locally with her long-term partner.
"She was much loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends."
Det Insp Sam Birtwell said police investigating the incident have ruled out foul play after three people were arrested and later released after questioning.
He said police were continuing their appeal for witnesses and added: "We would be interested to hear from anybody who may have witnessed the incident and would urge them to get in touch."
