There must be something in the water north of the border, as here come another mould-breaking, musically diverse, aurally satisfying Scots ensemble to show us dull Sassenachs up.
Imagine Tori Amos playing piano for a Radiohead cover band that have recently been listening to a lot of jazz in The Crocketts' basement and you'd be a little confused, but also halfway to describing Cayto.
For their full-length follow up to the 2003 mini-album 'Your Atoms are Laughing', the Glaswegian five-piece indulge in heavy post-rock discord, melodramatic tempo changes, clanging and wailing guitars, shouting, whispering and melancholy lullabies.
But this is nowhere near as smug and indulgent as post-rock can be, and infinitely more interesting than your average identikit guitar band.
