Callum Davidson has vowed to win back his place in Scotland's national squad after being dropped by Walter Smith.
Davidson's impressive early-season performances for North End caught the attention of the Scots manager, and he was recalled to the squad for last month's World Cup qualifiers.
After Scotland were defeated by Berlarus, Davidson returned to Lancashire to be with his wife, who was due to have a baby.
Since then Davidson has continued to prove his ability, most recently playing in a midfield which shut out big-spending Leeds at Elland Road.
But, while team-mate Graham Alexander was called up for international duty with Scotland for this weekend's match against USA, there was no such news for Davidson.
He told the club's website: "I am disappointed not to be in the Scotland squad, but there is not a lot I can do about it.
"I will just keep playing well for Preston and hope he gets down to watch myself and Graham as he has not been down yet this season.
If Alexander starts against USA, he could line up against ex-team mate Eddie Lewis for the second time in a week. The two did battle at Leeds, the club Lewis joined from North End in the summer, at the weekend.
Brian O'Neil, also handed an international recall earlier this season, misses out on the game because of injury.
