TOCKHOLES residents will be celebrating after plans to revitalise the kitchen at the village hall were finalised.
The kitchen in the building has deteriorated and as a result the hall is not being used frequently enough to generate income.
Volunteers are now urgently needed to help complete the work and bring the hall back to its former glory.
After securing funding they are looking for an electrician, a plumber, a tiler, a decorator and a floor fitter.
Colin Bury, a member of the Parish Council said: "We know these people exist in the community and we really need them to help us.
"I have already had lots of people call me up to help. It shows we can do this. So anyone else will be a great help.
"We need more people to use this facility. People want it. But they are not using it because it is not up to standard.
"The hall itself is fine but the kitchen has gradually deteriorated. There's damp on the walls and a lot of the equipment is not up-to-date. It's a catch-22 situation because if people don't use it, it deteriorates, but no-one wants to use it because it's deteriorating.
"The hall needs a working kitchen to be used by anyone. At the moment you wouldn't feed a dog from it.
"But when we get the kitchen sorted it should take off and return to the community source it should be."
A national Vital Villages scheme has part funded the amount needed for the refurbishment with added funds from the villagers.
Vital Villages is a Countryside Agency scheme aimed at helping small rural communities to revitalise their surroundings.
