FORMER Blackburn Rovers trainee Liam Blakeman inspired non-league Burscough to the biggest cup shock in their history.
The UniBond Premier Division side could now face a trip to Peterborough as reward for knocking Coca Cola League One Gillingham out of the FA Cup.
Burscough scored two late goals to stun the Gills 3-2 on Saturday and will now travel to League Two side Peterborough or Conference strugglers Burton Albion in round two.
Burscough manager Derek Goulding believes his side's FA Cup giant killing over Gillingham will benefit the club financially in forthcoming seasons.
With seconds remaining, substitute David Rowan turned on the edge of the area and fired past Tony Bullock to send the UniBond League side into the second round, a tie away from the possibility of meeting a Premiership team.
"The finances and revenue from getting to the second round are massive for a club like us," Goulding said. "It will support us through this season and seasons after this as well.
"It's a fantastic day and a fantastic result for us. It was a classic cup tie and typical of the FA Cup - it's what dreams are made of."
Karl Bell opened the scoring for the minnows before Matthew Jarvis and Mark Saunders put the League One Gills on course for victory, despite Michael Flynn's dismissal.
Former Burnley defeder Ian Cox's own goal restored parity before Rowan's winner.
"I'm really disappointed and it's the lowest I have felt," Gillingham boss Neale Cooper said.
"After, when they celebrated, I left our dressing room door open to let the players here them because that wasn't good enough for Gillingham and we'll all have to look at ourselves."
Fellow giant-killers Tamworth, who overcame Bournemouth, face a trip to League One Hartlepool.
One non-league team who may fancy their chances of reaching the third round - and earning a possible date with a Premiership club -- are Conference leaders Grays Athletic, who will face struggling League Two side Mansfield.
Worcester, who knocked out Accrington Stanley in the fourth qualifying round, could face League One high flyers Huddersfield but must beat Chippenham in a replay after drawing 1-1 on Saturday.
Chasetown, after holding Oldham, could have another home tie against Brentford.
Harrogate Town will host Notts County if they come through their replay against Torquay while Weymouth could could play Chester if they manage to see off Nottingham Forest. Eastbourne Borough or Oxford will play at Cheltenham.
Two ties ensure there will be some non-League presence in the third round with Southport or Woking playing Northwich and Nuneaton facing Histon.
