Amir Khan quickly disposed of Walsall journeyman Steve Gethin to stretch his winning record to three professional fights at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow.
Referee Victor Loughlin stepped in after 49 seconds of the third round to save Gethin further punishment and wrap up Khan's predictably one-sided win.
Gethin protested the decision and a number of boos rang around the arena but Khan had clearly put the result beyond question with a powerful display.
The 18-year-old Olympic hero was always likely to eye an early night having been taken to points by Baz Carey in his last outing in Cardiff in September.
His first punch of the fight was a painfully accurate left hook which rocked poor Gethin's head back with less than 10 seconds on the clock.
A welt quickly appeared under Gethin's right eye courtesy of more sharp left hands from the much bigger Khan.
The hopelessly one-sided action continued in the second with Gethin suffering further from a bloody nose and barely being allowed to get a punch off in anger, but again he exceeded most expectations by reaching the halfway point.
Khan stepped up the pace early in the third and with Gethin coming under more pressure against the ropes referee Loughlin made the decision to step in.
Khan said: "I fought a brilliant fight and I thank everybody in Scotland."
