CELEBRITIES love flash cars -- and an East Lancashire firm is helping stars to make their motors hip.

Clitheroe's Auto Installs, based in Lincoln Way, has completed work for a number of high-profile footballers and celebrities since being set up ten months ago by Carlo Corbin and Asif Aziz.

It has also become an official stockist for West Coast Customs, California, the company which modifies run-down cars into flash motors for the hit MTV show Pimp My Ride.

The company, which has two other employees, specialises in installing DVD players, CD players, speakers and navigation equipment.

It does work for Sony and most recently modified a car for Jay Kay, the charismatic frontman of funk-rock band Jamiroquai and the son of Blackburn entertainer Karen Kay.

Other star customers have included former Blackburn Rovers players David Dunn and Colin Hendry.

Carlo, 42, who holds degrees in electronics and interior design and is originally from Surrey, said: "Asif and I have been friends for 15 years and I was his boss when I was a technical and projects manager for Sextons, which is the biggest in-car electronics company in Europe.

"I knew one day we would have our own place because working for other people all the time becomes very restrictive and owning our own business has been something we have always wanted to do.

"Now we have customers all over the UK and do work for various footballers and pop stars."

Asif, 33, who is from Blackburn, said: "We have a number of high profile clients but we don't want people to think we are exclusive.

"We do everything from new speakers to a full dashboard modification.

"It is nice to be able to do the big jobs for celebrities that cost thousands of pounds but we will do work for anybody."

The pair enter their high-spec cars in various competitions all around Europe and go to Belgium in December for the IASCA European Finals, a renowned sound quality contest.

"We do love our jobs because it's our passion," added Carlo. "If I won the lottery tomorrow I would do this for free.

"I can be here until four in the morning sometimes covered in dust working on car but I wouldn't do it if I didn't love it."
