Indie rockers, Ocean Colour Scene, will drop into Preston on November 19 for a special gig at The Mill as you have never seen them before.

Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison will be live and unplugged, without band mates, Steve Cradock, Andy Bennett and Dan Seeley, to give an acoustic offering.

The pair, who are still putting the finishing touches to the playlist, have promised all the favourites, including the Riverboat Song, famous as the theme tune for Chris Evans' television show, TFI Friday.

Lead singer and song writer Simon Fowler, who is currently writing material for a new album, admitted they are having to brush up on their classics.

He said: "We've tried to play them but we're a bit rusty and it's been a bit like 'erm, how does it go again?'

"Once we have properly decided which ones we're going to do then I'll write up the scores and lyrics to be sure."

The gig, which is part of a 12-date UK tour, will also give fans the opportunity to listen to some new songs, including Matilda, which tells of a young girl who goes into the woods and never returns.

He said: "It's kind of taken from personal experience when last year I was walking my dog in Richmond Park and this guy walked past me and said 'stay lucky'.

"It was only later when I listened to the radio that I heard a cyclist had been stabbed to death and the guy that had spoken to me was responsible."

The man was John Barrett, who in February admitted he killed Denis Finnegan in the London Park in September 2004.

He added: "It keeps creeping into my music. It's really affected me and it's definitely something I'll never forget."
