Jemal Johnson believes his new team mates at Preston have all the talent to get to the Premiership.
The 20 year-old American arrived at Deepdale on a month's loan from North End's Premiership neighbours Blackburn Rovers last Friday.
He was thrown in at the deep end against Leicester on Saturday after getting just 40 minutes notice that he would start following Danny Dichio's late decision to pull out through injury.
While Saturday's performance maybe one that Johnson will want to forget, his goal on Tuesday and the reaction he got from the fans is something he is sure to remember for a long time.
After picking up a well-deserved man of the match award, Johnson said: "My aim is to do as well as I can, keep my feet firmly on the ground, keep working hard, get my fitness up, because the Championship is a very difficult league with a lot of good teams.
"I was disappointed in myself at the weekend and a lot of people had high hopes in me and I let a lot of people down, but I wanted to show people more and do well for myself and the team because it is the team I am looking to impress.
"They need to get confidence in me and I need to keep doing well.
"It's a really good team and they have all the talent in the world to try and get into the Premiership and that is what everyone is working for." For boss Billy Davies, Tuesday's win, the first home three point haul this season, was a relief.
And he's now pinning his hopes on more first team recoveries from injury to keep building a stable side capable of pushing up the league.
Adam Nowland, Lewis Neal and Brian O'Neil all missed out on Tuesday through injury, and while David Nugent made a second half return, Davies has warned it may take time for the young striker to get back on form.
Davies said: "We want to keep building that competition for places, so the players are working harder all the time.
"As people come back from injury we can field a consistent team which is something we haven't been able to do recently because of injuries."
