PHIL Wilson is looking to sort out a deal to keep teenage strike sensation Alex Taylor at Lancaster City for the season as the Dolly Blues continue to confound their critics.

The Giant Axe boss has been impressed by the ex-Burnley reserve, who scored for the sixth time this season in the 1-0 win over Vauxhall Motors on Saturday, and says: "Alex has done really well for me this season, as a lot of other players have.

"And we are looking at keeping him here for the season at least. He is a smashing lad and a really good player and that is what we need."

There could be a new face with City in time for their next match at Leigh RMI next Tuesday.

With Iain Swan out long term with knee damage Wilson is set to recruit a defender who can also play in midfield and adds: "I am still a bit light and I would love to bring a few new faces in."

For next Tuesday's trip to Hilton Park Wilson will have on-loan Crewe midfielder Andrew Bond back from his hamstring injury but the other Alex loan star Alex Morris is struggling with shin splints.

"Alex wasn't really fit to play against Vauxhall," adds Wilson. "So he did really well to last for an hour.

"It was a tough match and the three points were more important than the performance. We have played better this season but it was nice to win."
