BLACKBURN striker Craig Bellamy has lit the fuse ahead of Saturday's Bonfire night clash with Charlton Athletic by insisting the Addicks were lucky to dump Chelsea out of the Carling Cup.
Alan Curbishley's side became the first team to 'beat' Jose Mourinho's Blues this season when they won last week's third round tie on penalties at Stamford Bridge.
However, Bellamy is not exactly quaking in his boots at the thought of facing Chelsea's conquerers twice in the space of the next three weeks.
The two clubs meet in the fourth round of the Carling Cup at the end of the month but before that, they go head-to-head in the Premiership this weekend and Bellamy is convinced Rovers are more than a match for the high-flying Addicks, who have spent the opening months of the season in the top six.
The Welsh international, who has scored three goals in his last two Premiership appearances, said: "They are doing very well but I'm not caught up in all this beating Chelsea business.
"They were very fortunate to hold out (last week). Nine times out of 10 Chelsea would have gone through in that game and don't forget they went through on penalties, so I'm not under this illusion that they went and beat Chelsea.
"I think Charlton are more in our league and we are fighting for the same goal as them, which is to try and get into Europe and to try and do the best we can.
"So it's not going to be daunting for us."
Rovers have every reason to be confident going into Saturday's game, having won five of their last seven games, and although they lost 4-2 to Chelsea at the weekend, Mark Hughes and his players still took plenty of positives from what was an encouraging performance against the champions.
On top of that, Bellamy also appears to be getting back to something near his best after he scored twice against the league leaders.
But, ominously for the Addicks, the 26-year-old insists there is still plenty more to come as he continues to regain his match sharpness following a series of injury problems since he made his £4 million switch from Newcastle in the summer.
"My Blackburn career has been very stop and start for me so far," admitted Bellamy.
"I still feel I'm a little bit short from being really sharp and having the power I need because, every time I feel as though I'm getting there, I end up picking up another injury and then being out for another couple of weeks.
"I need a good run of games then, hopefully, I'll start coming into my own and put in some very good performances."
Bellamy's brace at the Bridge took his goals tally to an impressive five in eight appearances for Rovers so far, but the quicksilver striker insists he's more concerned with making chances for others rather than blazing a trail at the top of the scoring charts.
He added: "To be honest, I'm not really goal motivated.
"If I score, I score - don't get me wrong. There's times when you need to score as a forward, but as long as I play well and I'm involved in the play leading up to a goal then, for me, that's more rewarding."
