HEIDI Rogers got off to a great start yesterday as she spent her first day living in a plastic box in a bid to win £2,000 in a radio contest.
The five-day competition sees Heidi, 28, of Pickup Street, Clayton-le-Moors, living in a 2.5 square metre box in Manchester's Arndale Centre for Century FM's Living by the Book competition.
She is up against Andrew Harris, from Colwyn Bay, who is in the same conditions just feet away.
Each day the pair must complete a challenge by using a mobile phone to persuade companies to give them free goods and Heidi got off to a flying start as she was told she must find a bed and TV for her new home.
Not only was she successful in securing a bed but also got two spares and she found a TV, while her rival had to make do with just a sofa.
Heidi's fiance, Mick Burns, said: "She's doing really well so far and I'm sure she's going to win."
Later challenges include finding as many wigs as possible for a listeners' party.
