BURNLEY legend Steve Davis has rejoined the Clarets as a scout.
The 37-year-old former defender, who scored 48 goals in 384 appearances during three spells at Turf Moor, was recently working for York City as a player-coach.
However, after severing ties with the Minstermen, he will return to his spiritual home and work alongside chief scout Cliff Roberts.
Davis said: "Burnley has always been the club for me and I am absolutely delighted to be back. I spoke to Steve Cotterill a few weeks ago and he told me there might be an opportunity arising.
"It's fantastic news and I would like to thank Steve and the club for a great opportunity. It is a foot back in the door and I can't wait to get started."
Davis will also help out with coaching after joining the Clarets backroom staff just over two years after leavings Turf Moor.
Boss Cotterill explained: "Since Cliff has been here, he has done so much travelling and he needs help.
"Steve (Davis) has been unemployed since he left York and it's a great opportunity for him to be involved with a professional club again. He will also get the chance to do some coaching..
"He is an experienced professional who knows the game well and knows Burnley Football Club well, so we welcome him back and wish him all the best in the role."
