RE your report 'We shall not be moved' about plans for the Infirmary area of Blackburn (LET, August 26).
This dumb council has destroyed communities in the town and placed people in new houses that have since been demolished themselves - over 5,000 in fact and most of them less than 30 years old.
They hide behind consultants who in my opinion were commissioned to find the results they wanted. If not, why were the council's own surveyors not used?
The standard of unfitness for houses to be demolished is higher than the one used when council surveys are done for grant assistance to make houses fit to live in.
Regarding the claim that is 'more economically viable to demolish' -- let them publish the figures with no cover-up then we can judge.
Question: Would these same houses if located in Mellor or the Ribble Valley be demolished? Answer: Not on your Nelly.
WALT MEADOWS, Whalley New Road, Blackburn.
