SOON this year's programme of orchestral concerts will be starting. These concerts usually get such a rousing, foot stamping reception, that it is obvious there is a good following for classical music in this area.
Maybe we have something we can share with the local music lovers.
We are the Federation of Recorded Music Societies -- for people who enjoy the experience of listening to recorded classical music in the company of like-minded people.
We currently have 214 local groups in the UK from Thurso to Torquay.
We are always keen to attract more members and, in this the run-up to the Federation's 70th anniversary, we wish to make as many people as possible aware of its long and positive contribution to classical music.
There are societies in Blackburn, Bolton, Bury, Garstang, Clitheroe, Morecambe and Lancaster. You can find details in your local library, or you can contact our national secretary: Tony Baines, 2 Fulmar Place, Meir Park, Stoke on Trent ST3 7QF; e-mail: frms.sec@virgin.net
If you visit our website you can find a list of towns with such a society and in some cases view its programme for the year: www.thefrms.co.uk
