I WAS present at a planning committee meeting regarding the proposed demolition of garages to make room for offices at the rear of Bulk Road, where I live.
While observing what was taking place a member of the committee moved the plan for approval and chairman Cllr Rodger Sherlock moved straight to the vote without allowing any debate on the matter.
Cllr David Kerr challenged the ruling but Mr Sherlock refused to allow anyone to speak for or against the recommendation,
Mr Kerr was unhappy and tried to raise objections but was told by the chairman simply to vote. He made a verbal protest to no avail.
He was very dissatisfied that such a serious issue wasn't allowed deliberation before a decision was made. As a resident I have to agree.
Mr J Kennedy, Lancaster.
