SHOPS and businesses are being warned to have their eye on the notes after funny money was handed over the counter of a Morecambe shop.
A store on Market Street was targeted twice last Monday afternoon when two people tried to hand over counterfeit £20 notes.
In the first incident, a man in his late twenties entered the shop at about 12.30pm and tendered a fake bank note - but the shopkeeper spotted it and did not accept the cash.
The man is described as white, six-foot-two tall and slim. He was wearing a green baseball cap, blue jeans and cream loafer-type shoes.
Later a boy aged about 12-years tried to hand over a fake £20 note with the same serial number but again the shop assistant realised the cash was counterfeit and turned it away.
The child concerned is described as five-foot-two with a Scottish accent and sandy coloured hair. He was wearing a Burberry baseball cap.
It is the second time this year that counterfeit notes have appeared in the resort, say police.
