I have to disagree with Steve Cross's letter, who claims our markets should be replaced with national units.
Does he want Chorley to become a clone with all other small towns that have no individuality?
Chorley people are a warm hearted crowd, the friendly market is an essential meeting place for them. Chorley dares to be different.
The only place for a national chain store is the empty McDonald's store on Market Street with its unsightly large empty land behind.
However if nothing happens soon, Chorley council should revise its strategy and allow car parking there, which would go some way to replacing the 163 spaces lost to the new bus station.
