After reading Mr Cross's letter in the Citizen of August 10, I feel like nailing him to one.
He mentions "retail decline" and Chorley's "retail future" yet at the same time espouses the opinion that "national retailers" will bring the people of Chorley "retail future".
What about local shops, local business and local culture?
I live in Chorley and work in Manchester, which has appalling shopping facilities. Try to buy a tin of paint, or some fresh vegetables and you have to drive a car.
It has been said that Britain's towns are turning into "clones" and I wouldn't like to see Chorley become a mini Trafford Centre, yuk!
As the old adage goes "the cost of everything but the value of nothing."
And I thought Thatcher's dogma had been assigned to history.
