PLEASE let me reassure Ruth Marriner (LET, August 13) and Charlotte Atkinson (LET, August 15) that absolutely no decisions have been taken about the size of the future replacement pool in Darwen.
The confusion may have arisen as some people replying to the consultation do not wish to see a 50metre pool -- however some people clearly do.
I urge as many people as possible to feed their opinions into the consultations taking place by the council, and specialist consultants.

Just to reply to Ruth Marriner's specific point, yes I have indeed visited the tremendous facilities at Manchester Aquatics Centre.
