A BAR manager from East Lancashire has been accused of raping a teenage holidaymaker in the Canary Islands.
Andrew Logan, 34, of Clitheroe, is alleged to have attacked the 18-year-old inside the hostess bar he runs in Tenerife.
A bar worker is alleged to have stood guard outside during the incident, in Playa de las Americas on Monday.
Both men have been charged with sexual aggression against the woman, who is from Wiltshire.
A court has released them on provisional liberty, similar to British bail, awaiting trial but they both deny the charge.
The girl is alleged to have told police that Logan raped her inside the locked bar while 47-year-old Graham Coull, of Scotland, stood outside and prevented her brother from going inside.
The Spanish offence of sexual aggression covers all types of sexual assault, including rape.
Forensic evidence is still being gathered by the police.
Officers in the resort have confirmed that the girl was on holiday with her family and had been drinking before the alleged offences took place.
She received medical treatment on Monday night, they said.
The Foreign Office has confirmed two Britons appeared in court on Wednesday.
A spokesman said: "I can confirm that a British national was allegedly raped in Tenerife on August 15.
"Next of kin are aware, consular staff stand ready to offer assistance.
"Two British nationals were arrested in connection with the incident.
"Both have been released. However, one of the accused must sign on at the court twice a month, and police are still investigating."
With its all-year round sunshine and close flying distance from the UK -- roughly four hours -- Tenerife is one of the most popular holiday destinations for UK tourists.
Thomas White, 50, who has lived in the resort for 15 years running 'Snappy's Bar' said: "Playa De Las Americas has 200 plus bars in a square mile. It is well known as a party resort. People come here to enjoy themselves.
"On one hand I am not surprised by these allegations. But on the other hand the area has changed so much over the last 10 years and has calmed down a lot."
