MORECAMBE people with vivid memories of the heady days at the end of World War II are wanted - to help make a documentary film.
Morecambe Bay Movie Makers want to hear from people who recall where they were and what they were doing on VE and VJ Days in 1945.
The group is making a film of the activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Morecambe in September.
And director Chris Abram wants to include real memories of the day alongside footage that will be shot at the Poulton Heritage Festival.
The movie makers filmed the exciting heritage weekend to produce a commemorative dvd last year and will do the same again - the North West Film Archive has already requested
a copy for its historic library.
Mr Abram says: "We want to include reminiscences from ex-forces personnel and people who were ordinary citizens in 1945. We want to know what they were doing on the day, how they celebrated and what were their feelings.
"We will interview people on film about their experiences and use this information to form the background to the whole video."
He says the group is also looking for old film or photographs of Lancaster and Morecambe's VE Day which can be copied.
"Because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and because of the scale of events in Morecambe, a record is being made for historical purposes. We feel very privileged to have been asked to produce such an important historical document which will be studied by future generations," adds Mr Abram.
Anyone with memories, photographs or films to share can call Mr Abram on 01524-736573 or group secretary Ken Russell on 01524 416074.
