MORECAMBE bounced back to form as they trounced Blackpool in the Surridge Northern Premier Cricket League at Woodhill Lane on Saturday.
Phil Dennison's men are in top form at the moment, with their only recent blip coming against champions-elect St Annes last week.
The match with Blackpool was an acid test of their top three credentials - and it was a test they passed with flying colours.
Blackpool arrived late due to a motorway accident and then blamed that congestion on their defeat.
Oh well, that's life. Even though they whinged and moaned, the Seasiders won the toss and chose to bat on a green track so perhaps their collapse for just 97 had an element of just desserts about it.
And it could have been worse for Blackpool as Morecambe roared into life from the start.
Pace ace Gareth Pedder ripped the top order apart as Morecambe stated their intentions from the start as Jamie Reddy, Mark Griffiths, Steven Croft and Steven Mercer were all blown away for single figures.
Pedder also had the ultra-dangerous Justin Kreusch dropped as well - but the Blackpool paid man was knocked over by opposite number Mark Orchard in the next over for a duck so the missed chance wasn't too costly.
It did, however, cost Pedder a deserved five-wicket haul and he finished with 4-17 from 11 sharp overs.
The experienced pair of Tim Barry and Robin Bracewell made a stand to get their side towards a semi-decent score.
But by the time Morecambe bowled out the visitors after 48 overs, they had only made 97.
Skipper Phil Dennison and Mallie Mateka made sure there would be no panic as they steered Morecambe to 47 before falling in quick succession.
Orchard, by his own admission, was not really in the nick of form on his last appearance at Woodhill Lane - but still made 24 and the last two wickets to fall went with just two runs needed as Morecambe coasted home inside 36 overs.
