THEY'RE going to have to get use to a few more early morning wake-up calls in the Lensky household.
For talented swimmer Claudia has set her sights, not to mention her alarm clock, for pool glory -- and she is determined to rise and shine!
The 12-year-old has been getting up at 4.30am in the morning to train before school then heading back to the pool after her studies.
And it is a training regime that has certainly paid off for the St Wilfrid's High School pupil.
For despite having only swum competively since last November, Claudia, who lives in Burnley, qualified for the recent National Age Group Championships in Sheffield.
She finished sixth in the 100m freestyle, setting a new personal best time and just missing out on a bronze medal by three tenths of a second.
Now she is determined to put in a full year's training in attempt of a podium finish in the next championships -- and that means plenty of more early mornings!
Mum Andrea said: "Naturally we all support what Claudia wants to do it just means we have a few more early mornings to look forward to!"
"Claudia was a bit upset at first when she finished in sixth place," added Andrea. "But we explained to her that she had not been swimming for that long and now she can call herself the sixth fastest swimmer in the country.
"When it sunk in, she realised what she had achieved."
Claudia, the granddaughter of Burnley legend Andy Lochhead, has been a member of Rosegrove Swimming Club for the past three years, achieving the qualifying time for the National Championships in January.
In March, she was put forward by her Rose Grove coach to join Gallica, a squad for Lancashire based high potential & elite swimmers, and her form has really taken off.
She won a silver medal in the Northern Counties and gold and silver in the Lancashire finals where she was named top 12-year-old swimmer.
Andrea added: "I think Claudia must have a lot of natural talent because she achieved the national qualifying time before she linked up with Gallica.
"However, since she has been there, her swimming has really improved. She is training with a lot of other very talented young swimmers and is working with some of the best coaches around."
Her swimming exploits have also helped succeed in the unlikeliest of sports...shot put.
Andrea explained: "Claudia has very powerful shoulders from all of her swimming and the school asked her to take part in a shot put event in Bolton. She had never done it before but she ended up winning!"
But swimming is her number one sport and she is eyeing future national titles and possibly a place in the London 2012 Olympics.
"To be consider for the national elite squads, Claudia has to be able to swim in a number of events and not just freestyle as she does now. But she is still very young and that is something she is working to."
And if that means more early morning wake-up calls then Claudia is more than willing to make the sacrfice.
