WITH reference to Stanley Cosgrove's letter entitled 'Church Search' (LET, August 11).
In 1926 St Mary the Virgin Church in Blackburn became the Cathedral church of St Mary the Virgin and since 1930 baptism records are kept there.
Previous to that date the records have been transferred to the County Records department at County Hall, Preston.
If he wishes to see the records at the Cathedral he should make an appointment with the Dean's Viger (telephone 01254 51491), who may be able to advise how to see the documents at Preston.
GARY WIGNALL, Cathedral Church Warden.
